Heckle the Superb Bird-of-Paradise

Description:

I wanted more practice with character design so I made this one off character named Heckle! I was greatly inspired by the Superb Bird-of-Paradise for it’s wildly changing appearance when performing it’s mating dance. Since they look like two different creatures, I thought it would be interesting for the personality to change along with it! His personally changes to Jyde, his more aggressive and rambunctious personality. The concept and name is a homage to Jeckle and Hyde.

I like to think he would be perfect for a children’s book about learning how to handle negative emotions that sometimes makes us feel like we’re a different person.

Having trouble seeing details?

  • On your computer:  All images can be expanded when clicking on them, however, if it’s not enough, right click on an image, then select “Open Image in New Tab” in the sub-menu that pops up. Once in the new tab you can click the image and zoom in with a greater scale.
